A Season in the Heartland

season

NYC's hottest TV sports caster, Doyle Holden, makes a racial a joke to his friend, an African-American anchorman, thinking the mikes were off. Looking to escape the fallout, Doyle flees to rural Kansas to become a school teacher and basketball coach. He meets a gifted young black basketball player, Jamal, who is also looking to escape from his past. Doyle persuades Jamal to join the school's fledgling basketball team and together the two advance to the Kansas State Championships.

"A Season in the Heartland" is the simple story of outsiders who have to find a way to fit in at a new place while dealing with past mistakes. A family film, a sports film and a relevant social commentary, this project is the very definition of "feel-good movie".
